I'm 34 years old, have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree, work for a Fortune 500 Company in Corporate Accounting, and live in South Georgia of the good ole US of A. I am divorced and have a 5 year-old daughter. This website (www.cavedivingrocks.com) was created on 11/19/03.
I was open water certified in 1990 (yes, in high school). I didn't begin diving regularly until the Summer of 1996. During the time between 1996 and 1999, I worked toward my Master Scuba Diver & Dive Master Certifications, which included nitrox training. In Dec 1999, I received my Cavern training. In Aug 2000, I took Intro To Cave. In Aug 2001, I took Apprentice and Full-Cave over two weekends. On 10/16/04, I qualified for the Abe Davis & Bronz Wakulla Awards for 100 safe cave dives/100 hrs cave diving bottom time Abe Davis. I became certified in Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures on 12/11/04 and Full-Trimix on 5/15/05. I was certified as an International Underwater Cave Rescue & Recovery Diver (IUCRR) on 5/28/06.
On average, I get to the North Florida caves to make a dive just about every other weekend. Below is a statistical report from a Microsoft Access Dive Database I created. When I'm not cave diving, I'm often lurking and posting on Cave Divers' Forum. My handle is "aw".
Peculiar Past Time is a link to a local TV news program that did a 2.5 minute report on me about my cave diving. Although this does not show the video footage, it does show the narration that they did over it.
News Paper Article is an article in the "Life" section that my local newspaper did on my cave diving. It's pieced together because it was too large to scan in all at once. There are some spelling errors, but all in all it was a good article. They also included a stock photo in the article, but I didn't include it here. You may have to locate your browser's "expand to regular size" to be able to read it.
I am a member of the NSS-CDS and DAN (being covered by their Preferred Diver Insurance). In addition, I am a member of the Adopt-A-Cave Program at Peacock Springs State Park in Florida. I adopted 50 ft of cave passage in the deep section (165 ft deep) of Lower Lower Orange Grove Sink. Here's my certificate Link.
I do some very low-volume garage gas mixing of nitrox, trimix, and deco bottles at home. I am self-taught in sidemount, drysuit, scooter/DPV, survey, photography, and stage diving.
I was asked by a website to become an expert cave diver for their website. I agreed. You can see my reviews of some of the more popular caves in North Florida at World Reviewer.
